I was 30 and living in London.

I had $8,000 racked up on my credit card.

I had no money left each month once I payed rent for our apartment in Dalston and food.

I had no passion for my 9-5 design job of doom.

... and me an my girlfriend had to move back to Melbourne, Australia where we could possibly afford to live a bit better.

I had zero focus and was overwhelmed with where my life seemed to be heading.

There’s a stupid myth out there..that you get a job, play by the rules and everything is great...

… Well sometimes it doesn’t..

And if you want a life of creativity and freedom it is almost never the answer...

I know, because I tried.

I gave it everything I had.

I gave it my BEST shot.

And it didn’t work.

Because I played by the rules and I did everything right...
I ended up with A demotivating 9-5 design role And I Hated It…
I hated it because I never got to use my creativity got squashed by management every time I suggested something different due to it being too "risky" for the company...

I had goals, dreams and aspirations...I wanted more out of life...

...and sitting at a desk, working 40 hours a week in a job I hated wasn't going to cut it. 

So I did what everyone else out there does in this situation.

I started looking for a way out.

I looked everywhere and a a few months later I found it.

I stumbled upon a forum where a group of guys and gals were talking about how they were using business principals to move from selling their physical skills and labour to charging for the value of expertise. And because of it, where charging numbers considered ridiculous by everyone around them with the same skillset.

This was a cool concept to me, and as I researched more and more I found that most of them were just like me.

They came from similar backgrounds - all from 9-5 jobs in their skillset, looking for that escape.

The only difference was they had found a way to more profitably sell what they knew instead of just what they did.

But I shortly realised... You can't do this with design skills... perhaps what they do does apply to me!

It did.
Stopping To Sell design and starting to sell the outcome that Your Skills & expertise can contribute towards, Is The Most Legitimate And Easy-to-Follow Way to build a profitable business model
Just think about it: 
 Do people want to pay you for how long you do something for? No, they do not.
 Or do they want to pay you to help them get somewhere? Yes that’s probably it.
 Will they pay more if they can see how you help beyond design? Yes they will.
 How are you sure? Because your best clients already do.
 Why are they your best clients? Because they see the value in your advice as much as your skills. 
The minute I realised this, building a business that sold my expertise instead of my time was the perfect thing for me...
And the best part that attracted me to doing it this way?
You Don't Even Have To Meet Customers Face To Face
Which means you can sell your design expertise to anyone, in any part of the world if you want, opening you up to a global market place...

All you have to do is focus on what advice you you combing with your skills to get the best transformation for your best clients.
And that was the birth of
my Profitable Design Business
After doing a bit of research - I started to pull apart my best ever clients.

I had no idea how to make it work like these guys in this forum did.

All I knew how to do was post my work on social media.

Here's what my marketing efforts looked like
I had passion for what I was doing.

But I just couldn't get the eyes on my design expertise, never-mind sell it.

I was still asking friends and family if they knew anyone they could refer. It was getting embarrassing.

Looking back, those first few years were brutal.

Late nights.

Hard work.

I was doing what I thought I had to do, what the creative industry and the internet told me. But it wasn't working.
